It is with heavy hearts that we lay to rest Alexa Spencer Knooihuizen. Alexa passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 21, 2020. She was born October 15, 1991 in Kalamazoo, MI. Alexa was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Julie Spencer and Jeff Crosby. Alexa was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hopkins. She was an avid swimmer and state qualifier at Plainwell High School. She also enjoyed Track and Field. After high school, Alexa went on to study Cosmetology at Empire Beauty School in Portage, becoming a licensed Cosmetologist. Alexa was loved and cherished by so many and will be missed dearly.

Alexa leaves behind her parents, Raymond and Julie Spencer and Jeff Crosby; her three loving children, Emersen Rose Spencer, Hazel Julianne Knooihuizen and Gabriel Alexander Spencer; her siblings, Kenneth (Gus) Snowdon, Bannon Snowdon, Coleman Snowdon, Paul Spencer, Dana Spencer and Christine Snowdon.

In accordance with recent regulations regarding the pandemic, and in an effort to maintain the health and safety of loved ones, funeral services will be held privately. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Anyone wishing to have a private moment of prayer and pay their final respects to Alexa may visit Gorden Funeral Residence, 208 West Main Street, Hopkins on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM; the family will not be present. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran School, 4201 Burlingame Avenue SW, Wyoming, MI 49509.

Alexa, I worked with your mom Julie she often bragged about you and said how proud she was of you. I was heart broken to hear of your passing. This is a broken world with much pain and suffering. Praying your girls and family experience unexplainable peace thru this very difficult time. Rest in the arms of Jesus! Tamie
