Shirley Sara (Green) Breon

Shirley Sara Breon, 87, of Allegan, MI passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomingdale.  Born August 13, 1936 in Huntingdon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Earl and Grace Green.  While in Pennsylvania, Shirley had worked for Knouse Food and Corner Restaurant and did some babysitting.  She was also a longtime member of Open Door Church.  After moving to Allegan, though, Shirley had worked for Ruby’s Restaurant and the Allegan County Jail as a cook before retiring from Subway in 2000.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allegan.  In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, word search puzzles and playing checkers and cards.  She also enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard and bird watching as well as going on long walks and attending family cookouts.  Shirley loved to travel and listen to music and was happy whether she was going for long rides to the country, driving to the beach or headed to the casino.  Shirley had a heart of gold and would help anyone she could whether she knew them or not.  She touched so many lives just by being near them and will be missed by so many.

Shirley is survived by her children, Ken (Brenda) Breon, Joanne Reed, Phillip Breon, Teresa (Ray) Babbitt, Deb (Richard) Nitz and Rod (Missy) Breon; siblings, Peggy Johnson, Darlene Sanders, Linda Kromelis and James Green; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way and two great-great-grandchildren on the way.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Breon, Jr.; and her siblings, Steven Green, Ruth Hayes and Dorothy Koffman.

Shirley’s family wishes to thank Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan and also Meadow Woods of Bloomingdale for the tender loving care provided to their mother.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be held privately.
